WHEN it comes to helping his clients, personal trainer Ray Brown
goes beyond the gym.
The 42-year-old, from Noosa Springs Golf Resort and Spa, had his
hair and beard shaved off yesterday for long-term client and
friend Liz Lyn, who is battling her seventh lot of chemotherapy
in 25 years.
The former army physical training instructor lost the lot at
Bounce Hair and Image in Noosaville, along with two other clients
Kim Grove and Clint Coker, in front of about 50 people.
They used the opportunity to raise some funds, approximately
$2000, for the Sunshine Coast Community Hospice.
The funds will go directly to the Katie Rose Cottage in
Doonan.
Joking it could possibly be the last haircut he ever had, Mr
Brown said he was pleased with the support for Ms Lyn.
"The shaved head feels a bit different. It's a bit cold around
the ears," he said.
Mr Brown was inspired for the shave after hearing about Ms Lyn's
recent chemo treatment.
"When she found out she was going to go through chemo again and
lose her hair, I said to show my support and that others were
thinking about her, I would shave my head," he said.
"She wanted to turn it into a worthy cause and that's how we came
up with the fundraising idea."
Ms Lyn was touched by the gesture.
"I've been training with Ray for nine years. He's become a great
friend," she said.
"Seeing the support was fantastic. To have all my friends there
meant the world to me."
