Stewart holds graduate and postgraduate qualifications in Research Management, Soil Science and Chemistry and brings to the charity an extensive knowledge of his time as a Director of Government and Private Company Boards. He has over 35 years of experience as a Director and is the Company Secretary for the Hospice. He has also held Senior Executive and Chief Executive roles in both the private and public sectors including the ownership of a number of private companies. He has been involved in seeking and implementing government grants for a number of private and public sector organisations.
Stewart has brought to the Hospice Board his extensive knowledge of the legal and financial responsibilities that the Board must observe, as well as his general management experience in staff management and appointment. His commercial experience in the private sector in a number of industries has been used to assist in the expansion and restructuring of the Company’s trading activities to put them on a more sustainable basis, to ensure the long term financial future of the Charity. He is passionate about ensuring that the Charity expands and grows to a position where it can provide the vital palliative care services that the Sunshine Coast community needs.
